1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the PDFDad website and the tools on it. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. We have tried to write them in plain English; where legal language is unavoidable we have kept it short.
2. What the service is
PDFDad provides browser-based tools for working with PDF files. All processing takes place on your own device. We do not receive, transmit, store or have access to the files you process. This is a technical fact about how the site is built, and it shapes much of what follows: we cannot recover a file for you, inspect one to diagnose a problem, or confirm what a tool produced, because we never had it.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use the site lawfully. In particular, you agree not to:
- process content you do not own or have permission to use, including copyrighted material you have no licence for;
- attempt to remove protection from a document you are not authorised to access — our Unlock PDF tool requires the correct password precisely so that it cannot be used this way;
- use the tools to create material that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, harassing, or that infringes anyone's rights;
- create documents intended to deceive, including forged records, fabricated receipts or statements, or anything designed to impersonate a person or organisation;
- attempt to disrupt the site, circumvent its technical measures, scrape it at volume, or overload the infrastructure that serves it;
- reverse-engineer the site in order to republish it as a competing service, or remove attribution and licensing notices from the open-source libraries it uses;
- interfere with the advertising that funds the site by automated means, or generate invalid clicks or impressions.
Because processing happens on your device, we have no technical ability to monitor or block what you process. Compliance with this section is entirely your responsibility, and the consequences of breaching it fall on you.
4. No warranty
The site and the tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, that any output will be accurate or fit for your purpose, or that defects will be corrected. Conversions between formats are approximate by nature, and several tools say so explicitly on their own pages. Always check the output before relying on it, and always keep your original file.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDFDad and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or other intangible losses, arising from your use of or inability to use the site — including, without limitation, damage to or loss of a document, an incorrect conversion, a failed redaction that you did not verify, or a password you cannot recover.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the site is limited to one hundred United States dollars (USD 100).
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
6. Your files and your responsibility
You retain all rights in the documents you process. We claim no licence over them and, having no access to them, could not exercise one. You are responsible for keeping backups: several tools are deliberately destructive (Redact PDF permanently removes content; Protect PDF makes a file unreadable without a password we do not hold), and none of them can be undone by us.
7. Intellectual property
The site's design, original code, text and branding are owned by PDFDad and protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may not copy, reproduce, republish or redistribute them without written permission, except as permitted by law.
The site incorporates third-party open-source libraries — among them pdf-lib, PDF.js, Tesseract.js, JSZip, SheetJS, jsPDF, html2canvas, docx, mammoth and PptxGenJS — each of which remains the property of its respective authors and is used under its own licence. Nothing here grants you rights in those libraries beyond what their licences give you.
8. Advertising
The site is supported by third-party advertising. We do not control the content of the advertisements shown, and their appearance is not an endorsement. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and them. We place advertisements away from the tool controls and download buttons, and interfering with the advertising by artificial means is a breach of section 3.
9. Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the site at any time without notice. We may add, change or remove tools. We are not liable to you or to any third party for doing so.
10. Termination
The site requires no account, so there is nothing to terminate in the usual sense. We reserve the right to block access from addresses that abuse the service or breach these terms, and to pursue any remedy available to us.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PDFDad and its contributors from any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the site.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, save that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you retain the benefit of any mandatory protections of your own country's law.
13. Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the site.
